Yes, there is such a risk. However, very large doses of nicotine must be consumed for this to occur.
Acute symptoms of nicotine poisoning include: agitated breathing, nausea, vomiting, headaches and dizziness, diarrhoea, tachycardia, increased blood pressure, as well as excessive sweating and drooling.
A burning sensation in the mouth, throat and stomach can be noticed after ingesting excessive doses of nicotine. At extremely high doses, unconsciousness, convulsions and even death can occur.
